Erected in 1975 to foster business and scientific relationships with foreign partners, the World Trade Center (WTC) is a typical soviet-style multi-purpose building located in the heart of Moscow. Further.expansion in the 80’s led to construction of the International Hotel. This imposing structure offered functional working spaces as well as top-notch living and entertainment facilities to business operators travelling from all over the world.
In 2007, as a result of a general rebranding, the International Hotel was renamed Crowne Plaza. Its first-class level of comfort, unique elegance and functionality, high security and impeccable service make the Crowne Plaza Moscow World Trade Center one of the leading business hotels in Russia.

LIGHTING PROJECT
Installed in the 90’s, the white light fixtures of the Crowne Plaza Moscow needed to be replaced by a more sustainable and efficient lighting system capable of integrating the restored hotel in the completely renovated surrounding area.
On this occasion, a modern, artistic concept of architectural lighting was developed by the SvetoProekt Engineering Bureau of International Trade for the façade and for the side wall of the hotel, which is visible from the access road.
Fitted with linear glass windows, the façade of the hotel looks clean, geometrically regular and neat. The designers wanted to deliver an emotional visual impact to the building through a dynamic illumination system capable of flood lighting the whole façade without interfering with the glazed spaces.
Banks of POWERSHINE MK2 S RGBW with elliptical optics were installed in the spans among the windows on custom-made metal structures assuring the highest level of security in the observance of the legal standards of illumination. The corner of the building is highlighted with units of POWERSHINE MK2 D RGBW with narrow optics installed at ground level to light up the whole height of the building. Before the installation, the design engineers of SvetoProekt had carefully considered every single detail concerning the luminaires, their positioning and aiming, their visual impact on the structure, and the flexibility of the operation system.
At the end of December 2020, the Svetoservice-Podmoskovye company completed the installation of the selected equipment, while the programming, testing and commissioning was carried out by SvetoProekt and Svetoservis-Telemekhanika.
Shining in bright colours, the Crowne Plaza now stands out amazingly, enriching the night skyline of Moscow with a lease of new life.
