Bridge On the River Brda, Bydgoszcz

Polen
Although capable of revealing uncontaminated corners in the suburban areas and serving as a fitting backdrop for historic buildings in the city center, the waterfront of the Brda River in the Polish city of Bydgoszcz has been a long ignored hidden treasure. The municipal administration has recently realized it is high time to take advantage of this asset for the sake of the whole community and is encouraging new initiatives and ambitious plans of urban renewal aiming at valuing the riverside. New paved bike and pedestrian paths along the entire length of the river will make its waterfront more accessible and promote a healthier lifestyle. After this long-term project will be completed in 2025, the Brda waterfront will certainly look quite different than it does now.

Recent changes to the architectural outline of Bydgoszcz have already delivered a more captivating look to the city. An unusual extra-dosed bridge on the river Brda, which is made up of two differently shaped intersecting arches reaching a total height of about 230 ft (70 m), has been lately erected and lit up in order to facilitate the urban road communication while improving the quality of life in the Polish city.

The original steel structure of this suspension bridge, one of a kind in Europe, is based on two huge horse-shoe-shaped shafts that sustain, with the help of steel cables, two long spans. In order to reach a perfect balance, the foundations had to be set at a depth of 115 ft (35 m), thus shifting the entire load of the bridge to the surrounding soil. Located at approximately 36/45 ft (11/14 m) above the ground, the new road on the Brda bridge is about 5250 ft (1.6 Km) long and hosts two lanes in each direction, building an effective junction between two bustling city outskirts. Specified by the construction company Elbrox, 8 units of POWERSHINE MK2 D RGBW with spot optics have been located at the base of the steel structure for an even light distribution and an overall dynamic colour changing effect, designed by the company ElmarCo. Moreover, 3 units of POWERSHINE MK2 S RGBW SPOT have been installed on the nearby footbridge Supplied by the exclusive distributor for GRIVEN products in Poland, the company PROLIGHT Sp. z.o.o., the POWERSHINE MK2 units allow the double arched construction and the pedestrian walkway to be seen from far away at night.
Using a total of 192 powerful RGBW LEDs, POWERSHINE MK2 D, is a double cluster configuration projector that offers full independent digital control of each LED bank, while POWERSHINE MK2 S is its versatile single module version. Both fixtures are available with a vast choice of optics for the maximum lighting design flexibility. The combination of RGBW LEDs provides an unprecedented astonishing white light output quality, as well as a wider variety of intermediate colour hues for an even broader range of application purposes. The pure white light spectrum intensity management obtainable from the Dynamic White model, that adds up to the cool or warm white LEDs set-ups, creates a stunning visual rendering of warm tones, natural hues and cool shades altogether, thus offering an unmatched control over the creation of a vast range of the white light chromatic scale.
