Meliá Hotel, Hanoi

Vietnam
A fascinating blend of East and West culture and traditions, Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, combines classical Sino-Vietnamese motifs with French flair. Large areas of present-day Hanoi were built during the French occupation, which inspired its broad boulevards and French-style architecture, delivering a peculiar charm to the city. Previously known as Thang Long, the city was renamed in 1831, when Hue was the capital of Vietnam. A great place to explore on foot, Hanoi offers a perfect combination of modern hospitality and antique Asian style traditions, which make it the cultural capital of Vietnam.

Located in the very heart of Vietnam’s capital, Meliá Hanoi Hotel welcomes tourists and business people looking for splendid accommodation, first-class facilities and exquisite service. Luxurious rooms and a wide array of facilities, from a state-of-the-art business centre to an outdoor swimming pool, make the hotel a perfect place to stay. Located close to the main tourist attractions of Hanoi, such as Hoan Kiem Lake and the old quarter, Quan Su Pagoda, the Temple of Literature, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and One Pilar Pagoda, the hotel provides amongst many other facilities, a fully-equipped fitness center, haidresser and spa facilities along a wide choice of fine dining options from authentic Vietnamese or international top-chef restaurants.

The hotel property has recently required a new lighting scheme for the outdoor façades capable of enhancing with high-power, low consumption LED wall washers the peculiar features of the five stars hotel. The eye-catching architectural structure of the hotel involves a low main entrance building flanked by two geometrically differently shaped towers almost entirely covered by glass windows reflecting the colour of the sky.
Conceived and fulfilled by PhuThanh JSC, leading company in the installation of LED technology in Vietnam, the lighting scheme of the Melia Hanoi offers a colourful dynamic lighting experience capable of enhancing from opposite perspectives the different reliefs and channeling of the two towers, making them look similar in their diversity. To do so a powerful LED fixture with easy pointing system, low power consumption and long throw was chosen by the appointed lighting designers.

The final effect, obtained with the help of 14 Powershine MK2 D in RGBW colour configuration with spot optics, is really amazing. Created by the light smashing against the glass walls, a beautiful pattern embellishes the crossing points of the horizontal and vertical lines of the hotel façades, delivering an attractive, even if easy to obtain, global look. The spot optics of both Powershine MK2 D banks deliver a very narrow beam of light flowing right into the façade chanelling to achieve the required effect.

POWERSHINE MK2 D uses a total of 192 powerful RGBW LEDs and is available with a vast choice of optics for the maximum lighting design flexibility. Owing to its double cluster configuration, which offers full independent control of each LED bank, this wall washer allows absolute freedom to create matching or divergent effects on formerly prohibitive large-scale facades and remote spots. The combination of RGBW LEDs provides an unprecedented astonishing white light output quality, as well as a wider variety of intermediate colour hues for an even broader range of application purposes. POWERSHINE MK2 D Polar Edition features an integrated de-icing system with electrically heated glass, which assures a comfortable functioning even in the utmost severe cold weather conditions.
