Timeless alleys, ancient pagodas, and incense-infused temples are a perfect background to modern malls, sleek 21st century skycrapers, crazy traffic streets: the real beauty of the former Saigon’s urban collage is undoubtedly the seamless blending of these two worlds into one exciting mass.

Located in a green and peaceful area in the centre of Ho Chi Minh City, the Muong Thanh Saigon Centre is a 4-star hotel boasting relaxing amenities for weary business travelers and offering an array of services to tourists and visitors, such as work out facilities, swimming pool, meeting rooms, massage, Spa and sauna options. 124 world-class guest rooms featuring elegant and sophisticated design provide a stunning and colorful panoramic view of this busy city.

The hotel property has recently required a new lighting scheme for the outdoor structure capable of enhancing, with high-power LED projectors, the features of hotel façade and side walls in a nice shade of warm white. Architecturally divided into two parts - upper and lower part - the main façade of the Muong Thanh required a non-invasive illumination system that could deliver the desired layout respecting its minimal design.

Conceived and fulfilled by PhuThanh JSC, leading company in the installation of LED technology in Vietnam based in Hanoi, the lighting design of the Muong Thanh Hotel required long throw fixtures for the illumination of the spaces between the front windows. A more specific recessed up-lighting system was required for the hotel main entrance.

According to the provided lighting design scheme, GRIVEN’s lighting designers performed the relevant calculations in order to provide the customer with the best lighting options. 4 units of JASPER W with ultra spot optics in 3000K warm white configuration were chosen to deliver a well defined beam of light reaching up to the top roof of the hotel façade.

Housing 60 high power LEDs, as well as in-built electronics and power supply unit, JASPER W is a high performance luminaire, ideal for general and dynamic accent, spot or flood lighting of large areas owing to a choice of optional fixing systems and a wide selection of optical groups for surface mount or suspended applications. Available in both cold and warm colour temperature white light versions, JASPER W meets the latest design requirements and aesthetical prerequisites demanding for large round shaped powerful LED fixtures capable of delivering high level performances with a reduced power consumption.

For the main entrance, fitted with a refined marble cover and with no possibility to embed fixtures in its pavement, an alternative solution was preferred for the housing of the 14 units of DUNE MK2 W chosen. Dedicated brick formworks, then finished with a concrete layer, were erected in order to house the lighting fixtures without spoiling the marble pavement of the hotel entrance. The different fixtures installed on the façade create a balanced, well-tuned light pattern that delivers elegance and charm to the whole structure.

DUNE MK2 W is a white LEDs fixture, engineered for exterior recessed applications. Fitted with the highest precision technology, the 20 LEDs utilized have been coupled with the most effective optics to give an extremely homogeneous white light output. The unit can be customized with a wide choice of lenses to suit additional requirements of alternative beam creations, always preserving the highest luminous efficacy. Featuring an IP67 weather protection rating and a 2000 kg deadweight load capacity, DUNE W MK2 is suitable for ground mounting applications even in vehicled areas.
