On January 1, 2024, Cua Luc 3 bridge, now renamed Binh
Minh bridge, was officially opened in Quang Ninh province, swiftly becoming a
prominent landmark due to its innovative architecture, attractive design, and
captivating illumination.
Quang Ninh province in Vietnam has recently
concentrated its efforts on enhancing vital transportation infrastructure to
connect the surrounding regions effectively. Among these initiatives, the Cua
Luc 3 bridge project holds significant importance in driving socio-economic
development, fostering tourism, expanding urban areas, efficiently utilizing
land resources, and fostering service development.

Classified as a level II traffic project, the Cua Luc
3 Bridge stretches over 2.6 kilometers with six lanes featuring a speed limit
of 60 km/h, playing a pivotal role in completing the regional road network. However,
the project encountered several challenges during its implementation, including
the need to adjust the alignment design to preserve the mangrove ecosystem and
logistical issues such as site handover delays, exacerbated by factors like the
prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and fluctuating raw material prices. Despite facing
a delay of 14 months beyond the initial deadline, the collective efforts of
various stakeholders ultimately led to the successful completion of the bridge.
The bridge's architecture features a primary
load-bearing arch complemented by two side landscape arches, with the main arch
adopting a parabolic shape that spans across Cua Luc Bay. This design concept
mirrors the imagery of the sun rising at dawn on Ha Long Bay with its wonderful
landscape.

In order to provide both
decorative and functional illumination to the central part of the bridge, a dynamic lighting
system that could enhance its elegant arches with an artistic game of
synchronous lights was required by the city council. Designed and implemented by PhuThanh JSC, leading company specializing
in LED technology installations in Vietnam, the lighting scheme aimed to
illuminate the bridge's three arches and side edges with captivating light
displays.
To achieve this, 465 units of Graph-i-CELL 3 RGB
fixtures were installed along the side edge of the bridge, creating colorful
spots to enliven its central profile. Additionally, an array of CAPITAL 200
fixtures in RGBW color configuration located at the base of the vertical cables
of the primary load-bearing arch, are used to light them up along with the inner
part of the arch. Jupiter units were used for the two lower side arches. To
complement the lighting scheme, batteries of Capital 300 and Capital 100 were
strategically placed to light up the outer profiles of the three arches
according to their height. All fixtures were delivered with an additional
anti-saline treatment to enhance their resistance to coastal environmental
factors. The lighting system is
managed via a complex DMX control system, allowing for the programming of
countless color scenes and effects. The result is truly impressive; the bridge has acquired a new identity
